Our Story

Oracle Scientific was founded in June 2016 with a desire to change the future of cannabis use. Living on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, three friends took their unrelenting pursuit of opportunity, hustle, and big thinking to bring Dose Control Liquid- Cannabis to the world.

After identifying a gap in the current cannabis market, Deryl Townsend, small business owner and entrepreneur, teamed up with Hayden Wilford, entrepreneur and Heavy Equipment Operator, and Ian Hillier-Brook, chemist and cannabis expert. Together, they created and patented the world’s first DoseControl Liquid-Cannabis for inhalation. The outcome?  A more enjoyable and versatile product for all cannabis users. Available in high and low doses, DCL opens the door to the micro-dose therapy market, while continuing to meet the needs of daily users. 

In June 2021, Oracle Scientific was officially awarded patent protection for its Dose Control Liquid-Cannabis formula. Since then, the team has expanded to include the partnership and expertise of Richard and Lee Jabara, investors and entrepreneurs in Australia. Most recently, they signed a licensing deal with Dave Richmond, inventor, and CEO of Banana Bros. in Los Angeles California. 

The team is currently in conversations with interested parties in the United States, Thailand, and Australia.

Dose Control Liquid-Cannabis

Dose Control Liquid-Cannabis (DCL) is a revolutionary cannabis-infused e-liquid. DCL was scientifically formulated to increase the benefits of cannabis through inhalation. Our patented formula is noncarcinogenic, can be produced in readily available e-liquid flavours and is compatible with most e-cigarette hardware. 

Our unique carrier blend includes Propylene Glycol and Polyethylene Glycol, which are both categorized as generally recognized as safe for vaping by Health Canada and by the FDA. Our formula dilutes and suspends cannabinoid distillate or isolate in e-liquid, which increases the bioavailability and provides a more consistent and enjoyable experience for cannabis users. DCL gives manufactures the ability to target low and high doses for both the medicinal and recreational markets.

Who we are

deryl townsend

Founder, President, and CEO

With a background in the hospitality industry, Deryl began his entrepreneurial path as owner and operator of two restaurants in Golden B.C. and one in Sooke B.C. 

Deryl went on to become a Heavy Equipment Technician in Fort McMurray Northern Alberta, where he worked and lived with his family for eight years. In 2016, a wildfire swept through his community, forcing them to flee their home and leave everything behind. Seeing problems as opportunities rather than obstacles, Deryl harnessed his entrepreneurial spirit to begin a new life in Sooke B.C., where he currently runs a successful vape and smoke accessory store with his family.

His experience in the vape industry and enterprising mindset led him to discover a demand for a new cannabis product. As the visionary behind Oracle Scientific, Deryl conceptualized an innovative and better way for people to use cannabis both recreationally and therapeutically. Turning his invention into a patented, market-ready product along with raising his two sons are his greatest accomplishments and what he is most proud of. 

haydn wilford

Vice President and Co-founder

Born in Australia, Haydn moved to Vancouver Island when he was five years old. He spent most of his childhood on Woodside Farm, the oldest and active farm in B.C. Haydn is a Heavy Equipment Operator by trade and has spent the last 10 years travelling to and from the oil fields of northern B.C., Alberta, and Saskatchewan. 

Born with a spirit for adventure, Haydn played an instrumental role in the creation and development of Dose Control Liquid-Cannabis and the founding of Oracle Scientific. Currently, Hayden is managing a small construction company on Vancouver Island. 

Ian Hillier-Brook

Co-founder and head of Scientific Development

Ian specializes cannabis formulations and extractions, research and development, analytical chemistry and edible production. He is experienced in software and control systems for automation, networking, and Information Technology support services. Formerly, Ian held the role of Chief Scientific Officer of New Oil, a Canadian start-up focusing on pharmaceutical purity cannabinoid preparations and toll processing.

With more than 16 years of experience working in the cannabis industry, Ian has an extensive understanding of cannabis and its scientific properties. Through countless hours of research and development, Ian was able to perfect the Dose Control Liquid-Cannabis formula that would help bring Oracle Scientific into the global spotlight.   

Additionally, Ian founded Aurion Industries, a cannabis processing company. In 2016, he successfully sold the company for $3.75 million.

Richard Jabara has over 30 years’ experience in Australia and International in a corporate advisory. He has represented many blue chip corporations over the years and has particular expertise in media and brand positioning.

During his 20-year career, Manny worked successfully with very demanding clients such as Warner Bros, Mattel, Disney, Hasbro, DreamWorks, and Sony.  Manny was a lead partner in directing large design and innovation projects for each of these companies.  The products created led to billions of dollars in sales.  Many started as a Hollywood special effects model artist before he transitioned to industrial design.  With his passion for solving industrial design problems, Manny has been at the forefront of industrial design as the industry evolved through advanced computer-generated design.  Manny is a hands-on innovation leader and runs all aspects of the innovation process, including conceptual brainstorming, CAD engineering, materials, process, problem solving and manufacturing implementation.  Manny was a part-time instructor at OTIS College of Art & Design in their consumer products program for five years.

  • Traditional, widely adopted cannabis vape technology that is commonplace today usually consist of HCFSE (High Cannabinoid Full Spectrum Extract) or Distillate with added terpenes.   • Our product allows for lower concentrations of Cannabinoids per ML, allowing us to match the adsorption rate of lung tissue to the dose delivered per inhalation. This feature, combined with the unique formulation that enhances membrane retention in the lungs, equals a more effective and efficient dosing medium.

    Our product also fully opens the door to micro dose therapy, as well as potential pharmaceutical partnerships for medical trials, our process is scalable, and able to be manufactured in any EU GMP pharmaceutical capable facility with little to no equipment upgrades.

  • EVALI, or E cigarettes or Vaping Associated Lung Illness is a serious medical condition in which a person's lungs become damaged from substances contained in e-cigarettes and vaping products, most notably Vitamin E Acetate and MCT oil. Other contributing factors to EVALI are residual pesticides from using non standardized inputs, such as Azidirachtin from Neem oil, or Myclobutanil for powdery mildew control.

    Medium Chain Triglycerides and Vitamin E Acetate have been used in cannabis distillate vape cartridges, both of which cause serious lung tissue damage over time. This combined with some black-market products containing pesticides, has caused some serious illness and injury as vapes have become more popular.
